Inter-Lutheran Consultation correspondence files (1958-1966) contain correspondence; reports; statements; publication; and Lutheran Council in the U.S.A. (LCUSA) articles of incorporation, by-laws, and constitution drafts regarding doctrinal consultations held by the National Lutheran Council (NLC), Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), and the Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Churches. These consultations ultimately resulted in the formation of the LCUSA. Correspondents include NLC, LCMS, and Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Churches representatives, international and national church organization leaders, Lutheran World Federation officials, and U.S. Lutheran pastors and seminary officials. Church body Presidents involved in the discussions include : Fredrik A. Schiotz of The American Lutheran Church (TALC); Franklin Clark Fry of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA); John W. Behnken of the LCMS; and Theodore Asberg of the Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Churches. NLC Executive Director Paul C. Empie is also an important correspondent.
